THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On the match against FAU: "We definitely underperformed today. We are very fortunate to be deep this year, as we have seniors coming back from last year getting their extra year. On paper, we were stronger than FAU, but today was a perfect example that on paper doesn't mean anything. Credit to FAU, they played very hard and fought until the end. The bottom line is we are so deep we should be able to win some of those matches quickly. At number six, we were up 5-2 in the first set up two breaks and go on to lose that set. In the second set, we were up 4-1 with two break points and lost that one. We just have to look in the mirror and practice harder.
- On the positives from today: "We had some positives today though; number one we won a very competitive doubles point. We had a good crowd today, it was awesome to see not only our fans, but support from other student-athletes. Julien [Evard] had a great match. He's been playing awesome. He was fighting through cramps in both legs the entire third set. He showed a lot of character and a lot of heart by winning that one. Clément [Marzol] was playing great, showed a lot of heart and was almost done in two sets. His opponent from FAU played great and Clément dropped the second set and was very frustrated about that, but then put it behind him and won the third set like a champ. We've got a very talented team and if we don't want this to go to waste we need to start working hard right now."
