THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On today's match: "We had a really big battle. We were at it for three and half hours playing high-level tennis. South Florida played well, and so did we, and that's why so many courts went into three sets.
- On doubles: "Doubles was definitely a nail-biter. When it came down to the big points, South Florida executed a little better than us. We strayed away from the game plan. Maybe we got a little too excited on the deuce points and went too big instead of sticking to what's been working for us. That was the mistake we made on the big points because we definitely had our chances. We were up a break on two courts, so technically, we were winning, and we just had to maintain what we were doing. Overall, it was great competitive doubles."
- On singles: "We had a massive battle, and it's disappointing when you lose two matches so quickly. I think that's what hurt us because on courts one, two, three and four the scores could have gone either way. At one point, it looked like we could win all four, but it always hurts when you lose two quick matches and the doubles point, and you find yourself down 3-0. Even though you're winning on the other four courts, it just looks like a massive hole to get out of. We have to do a better job of staying in the matches and making the matches competitive and longer at every single position. Overall, I am very happy with their performance level. Now, we need to rest and recover to get ready for Sunday.
