Opening Tip
• USA begins a three-game homestand when Troy visits the Mitchell Center on Saturday.
• It will be the second of two match-ups with the Trojans in a three-day stretch.
• A win in this contest would give the Jaguars at least one victory over each of the other four Sun Belt Conference East Division schools this season.
• The Jags are looking for their first February victory at home since defeating Arkansas State 87-71 on Feb. 20 a year ago.
• USA has scored fewer than 60 points in each of its last three home games after scoring 68 or more in its first three league contests in Mobile.

Troy Series Notes
• Last year marked the first time since the 2016-17 campaign that either team swept both games in the regular season.
• The Trojans' current three-game win streak in the series is the first that long for either team since Troy claimed three victories in a row  from March 9, 2016-Feb. 4, 2017.
• Troy spoiled the Jaguars' Senior Day on Feb. 29 last winter with a 77-73 victory in the last meeting between the teams at the Mitchell Center.
• Three of the last five regular-season match-ups between the two programs have been decided by eight points or less.
• The winning team has recorded at least 70 points in 10 of the last 11 meetings in the series, surpassing 80 points on six of those occasions.

Solid Showing For Sophomore In Troy
Jaylen Mallard paced the Jaguars in Thursday's contest at Troy with 12 points, making it the first time in her career that she has led South in the scoring column.  The sophomore forward has now scored in double figures in two of the Jags' last four outings after achieving the feat twice in the first 15 games of the season.  It was also the fourth time in the last five games that Mallard has pulled down at least six rebounds and hit multiple three-point field goals.

Freshman Moving Forward
After entering the match-up with the Trojans having scored six points in her eight appearances in conference action, Janelle Jones recorded eight points in a 68-second span of the second quarter on Thursday on her way to a career-high 11 on the night.  Not only was it the first time she has posted a double-digit point total at the collegiate level, the freshman guard also contributed a career-best four rebounds and career-high-tying two assists.

All-Around Effort From Jones
Although she was held to a season-low scoring total at Troy, Savannah Jones found other ways to contribute for the Jaguars as she paced the squad in rebounds (nine), assists (season-high-tying four) and steals (two).  It was the third time in South's last four outings that the guard has led the team in at least three of five statistical categories; during that stretch Jones is averaging 13.5 points and 8.3 boards per game, has been credited with 13 assists and eight steals, and is shooting 52.2 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Additional Notes From Thursday's Troy Game
• It was the first time the Jags were defeated by a margin of 40 or more points since North Carolina State beat South 74-31 at the Mitchell Center on Dec. 19, 2016.
• Troy recorded opponent season-high totals in points and rebounds, and equaled the most assists handed out by another school as well.
• It marked the first occasion this year that the Jaguars have allowed the opposition to shoot better than 50 percent from the floor.
• The Trojans were the last team to pull down 50 or more boards against South — they had 54 in last season's Feb. 1 match-up in Troy — prior to accomplishing the feat on Thursday .
• Johnson matched the most points recorded by an individual against the Jaguars in 2020-21.

Notes From The Last Troy Meeting In Mobile
• The Trojans' free-throw attempt total was the highest posted by a Jaguar opponent during the 2019-20 season.
• It was the fourth occasion in a five-game span that USA connected on 10-plus three-pointers.
• Troy's three-point field goal total matched the lowest surrendered by South last year (Coastal Carolina had made a pair two weeks prior to the contest).
• Lewis recorded the 1,200th point of her career on the way to reaching double-figures in the category for the 20th time on the season.
• It marked the first time last year that Jones was held below 10 points in back-to-back outings.
