- South Alabama is 24-23 all-time in season openers.

- Powell went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, accounting for all but two of USA's three-pointers in the contest. 
- Tyrielle Williams recorded five assists, the most of any player in the contest. 
- South posted 54 points in the paint and got 31 from seven individuals coming off the bench. 
- Four of the Jags' six freshmen who earned playing time were on the floor for 15 minutes each.
