GCAA RECOGNIZES SOUTH ALABAMA GOLF PROGRAM

NORMAN, Okla. – For the 12th consecutive season, the University of South Alabama men's golf program has been recognized for its performance in the classroom with the announcement of the 2019-20 Team Academic Award winners by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

The Jaguars were one of 250 teams honored by the organization on Thursday for posting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.  In order to be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list and have a mark of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.

In addition to posting a top-10 finish at all seven events last season — highlighted by a victory at the Lone Star Invitational to begin the campaign — the 10 individuals on the Jags' roster combined to record a 3.42 grade-point average over the fall and spring semesters.

Rasmus Karlsson paced the group with a 3.81 mark his final season at the collegiate level, and he was joined by the trio of Spencer Arnold, Anders Emil Ejlersen and Kyle Robinson with a GPA at or above 3.5 in 2019-20.  The other six members of the program a year ago — Dawson Atkinson, Jacob Hatter, Jacob LeCroy, Mathias Lorentzen, Jordan Plunkett and Yannick Schütz — had grade-point averages above 3.0 as well last season.

Karlsson and Schütz were named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the GCAA last month for the second year in a row.
