Opening Tip
• This will be the Jaguars only home game the first half of February.
• The contest will tip off at 6 p.m. (CST), one hour earlier than originally scheduled.
• It's the first time this winter South will face a Sun Belt Conference opponent in a rematch after dropping a 73-68 decision to the Ragin' Cajuns on Jan. 9 in Lafayette.
• The Jags won both match-ups between the two programs in Mobile during the 2018-19 season, claiming an 83-60 victory on Jan. 24 in the regular season before defeating UL 73-61 in the opening round of the conference tournament March 11.
• USA has been the victor in four of the last five meetings in the series in the Mitchell Center, with the Ragin' Cajuns' lone win during that stretch coming in a 59-56 decision on Feb. 24, 2018.
Point Guard Produces More Points
Shaforia Kines scored a game-high 22 points in the Jaguars' last contest at Troy on Saturday, which included tying a career high after the senior finished 9-of-9 at the foul line.  It was the first time the she has paced South in scoring since a Jan. 11 victory over ULM and the first occasion that she has accomplished the feat on the road since posting 15 points at Southern Miss on Dec. 15; Kines now has a team-best seven outings with 20 or more points on the year, although it marked the first time she has turned the trick since putting together a 21-point effort on Jan. 4 against Coastal Carolina.  Kines recorded the 1,100th point of her career in the second quarter against the Trojans, moving past Chanta Powell — who had 1,099 from 1989-92 — into 19th place on the school's all-time scoring list.
Another Big Night On The Boards
Junior Antoinette Lewis recorded a game-best 14 rebounds last time out, marking the 50th time in her career that she has led the Jags on the boards; in fact, the center has accomplished the feat in all but three games this season.  After adding 13 points, Lewis has now posted four straight contests with a double-double as five of her conference-best 11 have come in league action.
A Complete Contribution
G Savannah Jones has scored in double digits in each of the last five outings — her 17 performances with 10-plus points this season are the most on the squad — after finishing with 10 at Troy.  She had seven rebounds as well, giving her 16 in the last two contests after totaling 14 in the previous four games, while also recording four assists, two blocked shots and a pair of steals.  It was the first time in her career that Jones has led all players in assists, while it marked the 10th occasion that the redshirt junior has accomplished the feat in blocks.
Finding Their Way To The Foul Line
The Jags went 24-of-35 at the charity stripe against the Trojans, recording a season high for free throws made in the process.  That was the most attempts South has converted at the foul line since making 25 (out of 32) in a 74-65 victory over Western Kentucky at the Mitchell Center on Jan. 1, 2014.
Additional Notes From The Troy Game
• The Trojans forced 19 turnovers in the contest, which helped lead to 25 fast-break points.
• The Jaguars have now committed more turnovers than the opposition in each of the last three games, their longest streak of the season.
• It was the second time in three outings that South has made just four three-point field goals while shooting less than 20 percent from long distance (the Jags were also 4-of-24 from beyond the arc against UTA on Jan. 23).
Notes From The Last Louisiana Meeting
• It was the first occasion that Lewis led the team in scoring over a nine-game stretch following a career-best 36-point performance in a win over Mobile on Nov. 26
• Kines recorded a career-high rebounding total while becoming the first Jag to score 20-plus points in three straight contests since Phyllis Kelly turned the trick from Feb. 29-March 7, 1996.
• It was the first outing that Jones shot 50 percent or better from the floor in over a month after previously accomplishing the feat in a Nov. 30 victory over Tennessee State.
• The Ragin' Cajuns are the only Jaguar opponent this year to turn the ball over less than 10 times.
• Ty'Reona Doucet's defensive and total rebounding figures are both tied for the most by an opposing player thus far this season.
