MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's tennis team earned a 4-0 victory over Samford Saturday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts to improve to 6-6 overall this season.

DOUBLES
-Milka Pasanen and Yurie Takanishi opened doubles play at No.2 with a 6-3 win over Natalia De Ugarte and Arianna Beltrame.
-Yu Fujoka and Nikola Kohoutova followed with a 6-4 victory over Rouxanne Janse Van Rensburg and Elsa Pool, clinching the doubles point for the Jags.

SINGLES
-Kohoutova earned the Jaguars' first win in singles with 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 3 over Jennings.
-Fujoka beat Van Rensburg 6-3, 0-6, 6-1 at No. 1 to extend South's lead to 3-0.
-Leslie Soto earned a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 victory over Cindy Oest at the No. 6 position to close out the match.

NOTES
-South Alabama has now won six straight meetings in the series with the Bulldogs, and the Jags have won all seven contests between the two in Mobile.
-Fujoka and Kohoutova lead the team with eight doubles wins on the season.
-It was the first win for Pasanen and Takanishi since the Jags defeated Xavier (La.) Feb. 14.
-Kohoutova's win singles streak is now at eight consecutive matches.
-Soto has won three of her last four singles matches.
-Fujioka's last three singles matches have gone three sets.

UP NEXT 
-The Jags will go on the road to take on Texas State at 10 a.m. (CST) on Saturday, March 14.

On the win over the Bulldogs: "That was a good win today.  It's important for us to talk about a tough schedule – one that can prepare us for conference play -- but at the end of the day, we have to go out and win these matches.  Our scheduling helped us today because we looked like a very ready and competitive team.  Now, we have a two-week break to get ready for the Sun Belt Conference schedule."
