THEY SAID IT
Head coach Nick Brochu
- On today's match: "It was a good win today. It was good to be back at home. We had a good crowd. It was great to see our fans out there cheering for us. We played Xavier [La.] last year and we knew that they had some very good players, especially on the top end of their lineup. We had to make sure we played our best today.
"We had to show a lot of energy in doubles and we did that. We've been working on doubles. Even though we're a young team, we really need to be loud and energetic and have intensity on the court from court one, to court two to court three. Today was a great example of that. Courts two and three really took care of business.
"In singles, [Xavier] had some great players on top and Loïc played a very good player. He had to dig deep to win that first set 7-6. After that, he just kept the pressure on. Today showed that we have good depth on the team. We really took care of business at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 rather quickly. They were able to close out their matches and seal the deal quickly. We played well today and executed well. We had a good game plan and we took care of business. It was good to see that in front of our home fans. We were able to be aggressive from the outset until the end of the match.
- On Saturday's match against UAB: "Now, we have to get ready for UAB. They will be a little bit harder and we will have to learn from our match against them last year. We got off to a slow start against them last year, and it almost backfired on us. They are always excited to play us and motivated."
