ATLANTA – Georgia State swept a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader from the University of South Alabama volleyball team Thursday at GSU Sports Arena.
GSU took both matches in straight sets, which extended the Jaguars' losing skid to four matches. South Alabama (7-12, 7-8 SBC) will return to action Fri., Nov. 6, when it faces Georgia State at noon (CT) in the series finale at GSU Sports Arena in Atlanta.

GAME FACTS
- The Panthers used a 6-0 scoring run to take a 12-5 lead in set one before a kill by Meaghan Jones cut the Jaguar deficit in half at 12-6. South Alabama went on a 3-0 run that was aided by three Panther errors to cut the GSU lead to 13-9. GSU pushed its lead to 17-11 after a 3-0 run, and increased its advantage to 20-13 with a second 3-0 run. South Alabama used a 7-0 run that featured three kills by Hannah Maddux, one kill by Rebecca Walk, a service ace from Hannah Harris and block-assist by Walk and Jones to tie the score 20-20. USA tied the score 21-21 after a block-assist by Walk and Maddux, but the Panthers took a 23-21 lead after consecutive kills from Erin Wyatt and Leah Wilcox. GSU earned set point at 24-22 on a solo block by Wilcox, and clinched the set 25-22 on a Jaguar ball-handling error to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The Jags scored the opening point of set two on a Panther service error, but GSU responded a 6-0 run for a 6-1 advantage. A Panther attack error and ball-handling error allowed the Jaguars to cut their deficit in half at 8-4. A kill by Maddux cut the GSU lead in half at 10-5 before the Panthers went on a 5-0 run to take a 15-5 lead. South Alabama answered with a 3-0 run that featured kills by Jones and Hannah Johnson, and a block-assists by Maddie Soboleski and Johnson to cut the Panther lead to 15-8. GSU responded with a 3-0 run to increase its advantage to 18-8. A 3-0 Jaguar run that was aided by a pair of Panther attack errors and also featured a service ace by Rachel Hickey cut the GSU lead to 18-12. The Panthers went on a 3-0 run to push their lead to 22-13. GSU earned set point at 24-14 on a Jaguar attack error, and clinched the set 25-14 on a solo block by Meisheia Griffin to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Jags tied the score 3-3 in set three on a kill by Walk, but the Panthers went on a 4-0 run, aided by a Jaguar attack error and ball-handling error, for a 7-3 advantage. USA later tied the score 10-10 after a kill by Maddux and a Panther ball-handling error. A kill by Griffin gave GSU a 14-12 lead, but a kill by Jones and service ace by Harris tied the score 14-14. The Panthers took an 18-16 lead on a Jaguar service error, but a GSU service error and a service ace by Maddux tied the score 18-18. Georgia State responded with a 3-0 run to take a 21-18 lead, but a kill by Maddux and Panther attack error cut the USA deficit to 21-20. The Panthers later earned match point at 24-21 on a kill by Griffin, and clinched the set 25-21 on a Jaguar bad set for a 3-0 win in the match.
NOTES
- Soboleski recorded her sixth consecutive double-double, and eighth of the season, finishing with 24 assists and 14 digs, along with one block.
- Maddux finished with a game-high 11 kills, and also added one assist, one service ace, three digs and one block.
- Walk added nine kills, a .333 hitting percentage, three digs and two total blocks, while Jones posted seven kills, five digs and one block.
- GSU recorded a .213 team hitting percentage, while South Alabama finished with a .084 team percentage.

The Jags went on a 3-0 run after a block-assist by Maddux and Johnson, and kills by Maddux and Carly Doros to cut the Panther lead to 20-18. But GSU answered with a 5-0 run to close the set, earning set point at 24-18 on a block-assist by Cierra Sillmon and Erin Wyatt and clinching the set 25-18 on a kill by Clara Bednarek, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The Jags took a 5-2 lead in set two on an attack error by Wyatt, but the Panthers went on a 3-0 run to tie the score 5-5. USA answered with a 3-0 run, highlighted by a kill by Johnson and service ace from Soboleski, for an 8-5 lead.
