MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball will face Troy in a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches Oct. 30-31 at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.
The two-match series will kick off on Fri., Oct. 30, at 6 p.m., and will conclude with the series finale on Sat., Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast live through ESPN+, and available through the WatchESPN app or through links on the Jaguar volleyball schedule page. Live stats for each match will also be provided, and can be accessed through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.
South Alabama (7-8, 7-4 SBC) enters the series opener with a three-match win streak after sweeping its three-game series with Georgia Southern last weekend in Mobile, in addition to a three-match road win streak after sweeping its last road series, which came Oct. 9-10 against Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina. The Jags won the Georgia Southern series opener in five sets before clinching the series with a win in straight sets in match two. USA secured the three-match sweep over the Eagles
with a four-set win in the series finale on Oct. 23.
Jaguar setter Maddie Soboleski has recorded double-doubles in three straight matches entering Friday's contest after posting a double-double in each match of the Georgia Southern series. Soboleski capped last weekend's sweep with a double-double that included a career-high 21 digs. She currently ranks third in the Sun Belt in service aces per set (0.42), and ranks eighth in assists per set (7.72).
Freshman Rebecca Walk leads the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.368) entering the weekend. Walk recorded 14 kills in the series opener with Georgia Southern last weekend. Rachel Hickey ranks seventh in the conference in digs per set (4.36).
USA ranks fourth in the conference in opponent hitting percentage (.161), and fifth in service aces per set (1.38).
Troy (4-4, 4-4 SBC) carries a four-match losing streak into Friday's series opener after getting swept by Coastal Carolina in three matches last weekend in Conway, South Carolina. Trojan setter Amara Anderson ranks third in the conference in assists per set (9.84), while Cheyenne Hayes ranks seventh in kills per set (3.40). Lacey Jeffcoat ranks fifth in the league in digs per set (5.09).
USA and Troy split a pair of matches Oct. 1-2 this year in Mobile. The Trojans took the series opener in five sets before the Jaguars won the finale in five sets. South Alabama owns a 48-29 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began on Oct. 19, 1974. USA is 18-13 all-time at Troy, and has won the last three meetings in Troy dating back to 2017. The Jags are 3-1 all-time against Troy under head coach Alexis Meeks-Rydell.
