BRESCIA, Italy – Former University of South Alabama men's golfer Jonny Caldwell has now posted back-to-back top-10 finishes on the European Tour following his performance at the Italian Open over the weekend.
He fired four straight rounds in the 60s and with a 17-under-par 271 72-hole total tied for fifth in the final event standings. Caldwell opened play at the Chervò Golf Club with a 5-under-par 67, then proceeded to card a 68 each of the next three days to record his best score relative to par this season for the second week in a row.
Over the last two weeks, Caldwell has moved up 41 spots in the standings in the Race To Dubai in attempting to qualify for the tour's season-ending championship.
It was the third top-10 result this year for Caldwell — who hails from Northern Ireland — as he tied for seventh at the Scottish Championship presented by AXA the previous weekend and also placed in a tie for eighth in July at the Betfred British Masters.
