Opening Tip
• USA looks to avoid back-to-back losses at home for the first time since falling to Miami (Ohio) and Alabama on Nov. 15 and 21 the opening month of the season.
• The Jaguars won the last meeting with Texas State, 68-67, in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on March 13 last year to end a four-game win streak for the Bobcats in the series.
• This will be the first regular-season match-up between the two teams at the Mitchell Center since TXST earned a 57-44 victory on Jan. 14, 2017.
• The Jags are looking for their first-ever win over the Bobcats at home.
• Four of the first five Sun Belt meetings in the series — the two first played on Jan. 3, 1994 before the Bobcats became members of the league — were decided by five or fewer points, although last year's postseason match-up was the first to feature a single-digit margin of victory in the last six contests.

Lewis Leads Against Lady Mavs
Antoinette Lewis recorded team-high totals with 12 rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists last time out against UTA, adding 10 points as well on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.  It was also the sixth contest in a row that the junior has scored in double digits, the longest active streak on the team, while it marked the first time since outings on Dec. 4 and 7 against Auburn and Tulane that she has posted double-doubles in back-to-back contests; Lewis continues to lead the league with nine double-doubles, and it was the 25th time since the start of the 2017-18 campaign that she has posted 10-plus points and rebounds in the same game.  The junior finished the night with 735 rebounds in her career, moving her into a tie for 10th place on the school's all-time list in the category with Lyletha Gamble (1999-02).

Another Double-Digit Outing For Jones
Redshirt junior Savannah Jones paced the Jaguars against the Lady Mavericks with 12 points, the third consecutive game — and the seventh time in the last eight outings — that she has recorded double figures in the category; it marked the 60th occasion in 89 career appearances that she has accomplished the feat.  The guard has connected on multiple three-pointers in four of the last five outings after going 2-of-6 from beyond the arc, as she is shooting 31.4 percent (12-of-29) during that stretch.

Buster On The Blocks
G/F Jala Buster shared game-high honors with two blocks in the UTA contest, the first time in her career she has achieved the feat after matching a career best in the category recorded earlier this season in wins over Mobile (Nov. 26) and William Carey (Dec. 17).  The sophomore is averaging 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds over the last four outings after finishing with just one point and no boards on Jan. 9 at Louisiana.

The Takeaway
Senior guard Shaforia Kines tied a season high with three steals on Thursday night, the seventh time this season that she has been credited with two or more thefts in a game.  She finished with five points in the contest, marking the first outing that she has either failed to score 10 or more points or hit a three-pointer since the start of conference play against Appalachian State on Jan. 2.

Long Distance Love Affair
After going 4-of-24 from three-point range last time out, the Jaguars are now shooting 28.9 percent from beyond the arc at the Mitchell Center during the 2019-20 campaign.  That's nearly five points lower than their figure on the road this winter, as they have converted 33.5 percent of their attempts from long range away from home.

Additional Notes From The UTA Game
• The loss snapped a season-best three-game win streak for the Jags.
• South's 28.3 field-goal percentage was its lowest figure since shooting 28.1 percent from the floor in a loss at Southern Mississippi on Dec. 15.
• It was the first occasion since falling to Coastal Carolina on Jan. 4 that the Jaguars have connected on fewer three-point field goals than the opposition.
• It also marked the first time since the Southern Miss contest that the Jags have been outrebounded by a double-digit margin.
• USA's 13 points after the intermission were their fewest in a half since scoring 10 over the opening 20 minutes in a loss to North Carolina State on Dec. 19, 2016.
