MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will open its 2019 home schedule this weekend when it hosts the Jaguar Invitational at Jag Gym.

USA (0-3) will host Tennessee State at 2 p.m. Friday, followed by a 7 p.m. match Friday evening against Northwestern State. The Jaguars will close the tournament with a 2 p.m. match on Sat., Sept. 7, against Mississippi Valley State.

MVSU and NSU will kick off the tournament at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning, which will be followed by the Jags' home opener against TSU. Tennessee State and MVSU will square off at 4:30 p.m. Friday before the Jags and NSU face off in the final match of the opening day. NSU and TSU will open the final day of the tournament at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by USA's match with MVSU. 

Each match of the tournament will be streamed live and available for free through JagNationTV.com, as well as through the volleyball schedule page at USAJaguars.com. Live stats for every match will also be available and accessible through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.

South Alabama dropped three matches last weekend at the Purdue-Fort Wayne Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Jags fell in straight sets to Western Michigan and lost in four sets to Northern Kentucky last Friday before falling to Purdue-Fort Wayne in four sets Saturday afternoon.

USA ranks eighth in the Sun Belt Conference in digs per set (11.91) and blocks per set (1.55) after the first week of the season, and ninth in the league in hitting percentage (.128). Lillie Fromdahl ranks sixth in the conference in assists per set (8.09), while Kelley Hartman ranks seventh in hitting percentage (.306) and Ashlyn Roberts ranks ninth in digs per set (3.55).
