MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will face Alabama State at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lockhart Gymnasium in Montgomery, Ala.

South Alabama (4-5) enters the match on a two-game losing skid after falling to Samford and Kennesaw State last weekend at the Owl Invitational in Kennesaw, Ga. Alabama State (3-7) carries a seven-game losing streak into the match. The Hornets fell to Memphis, IUPUI and Southern Illinois at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.
USA ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.298) and fifth in service aces per set (1.42). Kelley Hartman leads the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.437), ranks seventh in points per set (4.14) and eighth in kills per set (3.48). Ashlyn Roberts ranks fifth in the league in digs per set (4.35), and Lillie Fromdahl ranks seventh in assists per set (6.16).
South Alabama holds a 26-3 all-time lead over Alabama State in a series that dates back to 1975. The Jaguars have won 19 consecutive matches over the Hornets after taking last year's meeting in Mobile in straight sets. ASU's last win over USA came in 1985 when the Hornets defeated the Jags in straight sets in Montgomery.
