MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will travel to Troy, Ala., on Fri., Nov. 8, for a Sun Belt Conference East Division match with Troy at 6:30 p.m. at Trojan Arena to kick off a three-match road swing.
The match will be broadcast live through ESPN+, and available through WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app. Live stats will also be available through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.
South Alabama (19-8, 10-3 Sun Belt) enters the match tied with Troy (20-5, 10-3 Sun Belt) for the lead in the Sun Belt Conference East Division. The Jaguars swept the Trojans in Mobile on Oct. 29. Troy is 14-0 at home this season, while the Jaguars are 4-4 in road matches but have won four of their last five on the road.
USA ranks second in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.241), and fourth in service aces per set (1.40). In conference matches, the Jags rank third in the league in hitting percentage (.240), fourth in service aces per set (1.29) and fifth in blocks per set (2.01).
Kelley Hartman leads the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.385), and ranks seventh in kills per set (3.13). Rachael DeMarcus ranks fifth in assists per set (9.53), Ashlyn Roberts ranks sixth in digs per set (4.21) and Hannah Harris ranks ninth in service aces per set (0.34).
In conference matches, Hartman ranks fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.360), and eighth in kills per set (3.24). Harris ranks fifth in service aces per set (0.37) in Sun Belt contests, DeMarcus ranks sixth in assists per set (9.41) and Roberts ranks seventh in digs per set (4.18).
Troy leads the Sun Belt in kills per set (13.80) and assists per set (12.89), and ranks third in opponent hitting percentage (.172) and service aces per set (1.57). In conference matches, the Trojans also lead the league in kills per set (13.71) and assists per set (12.98), rank second in opponent hitting percentage (.186) and third in service aces per set (1.46).
Troy's Amara Anderson leads the conference in assists per set (11.44), while Cheyenne Hayes ranks second in kills per set (4.00). Lacey Jeffcoat ranks fourth in the league in service aces per set (0.39), and ranks seventh in digs per set (4.04). In Sun Belt matches, Anderson leads the conference in assists per set (11.48), Jeffcoat ranks third in digs per set (4.40), and Hayes ranks fifth in kills per set (3.52).
Harris recorded a double-double in the previous meeting between the schools this year in Mobile, finishing with 12 kills and 11 digs, in addition to a .476 hitting percentage, two assists and four total blocks. Hartman also finished with 12 kills, and added a .391 hitting percentage, one assist and three total blocks.
South Alabama holds a 46-28 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began in 1974. The Jaguars carry a three-match win streak in the series into Friday's contest. USA swept Troy in straight sets last year in Troy.
