MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will close its regular season schedule this weekend with a pair of road Sun Belt Conference East Division matches.
South Alabama (20-8, 11-3 Sun Belt) will face Appalachian State (11-16, 7-7 Sun Belt) Fri., Nov. 15, at 5:30 p.m. (CT) in Boone, N.C., at Holmes Convocation Center and will cap the regular season on Sun., Nov. 17, against Coastal Carolina (21-5, 11-3 Sun Belt) at 11:30 a.m. (CT) in Conway, S.C., at The HTC Center.

USA and CCU enter the last week of the regular season tied for the Sun Belt East Division lead. The Chanticleers defeated the Jaguars in five sets earlier this season in Mobile.
The Jags rank second in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.241), and fifth in service aces per set (1.40). Kelley Hartman leads the league in hitting percentage (.374), and ranks seventh in kills per set (3.11). Rachael DeMarcus ranks fifth in assists per set (9.57), Hannah Harris ranks tied for fifth in service aces per set (0.36) and Ashlyn Roberts ranks seventh in digs per set (4.09).
In Sun Belt matches, Hartman ranks third in hitting percentage (.342), and 10th in kills per set (3.18). Harris ranks fourth in service aces per set (0.40) in league contests, DeMarcus ranks sixth in assists per set (9.49) and Roberts ranks 10th in digs per set (3.89). Roberts needs just two digs to eclipse the 1,000 mark for her career at USA.
Appalachian State enters Friday's match coming off of back-to-back wins last weekend at Georgia Southern and Georgia State. The Mountaineers are 3-5 at home this season. App State ranks third in the Sun Belt in service aces per set (1.44) in conference matches.
The Mountaineers' Emma Longley ranks second in the conference in kills per set (3.96), Emma Reilly ranks second in service aces per set (0.50) and digs per set (4.83), Sam Bickley ranks third in assists per set (10.21) and Kara Spicer ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.322).
CCU enters the weekend coming off of a pair of road wins last weekend at Georgia State and Georgia Southern. The Chanticleers are 3-2 at home this season. Coastal Carolina leads the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.281) and service aces per set (2.05), rank second in blocks per set (2.19), and third in kills per set (12.97) and assists per set (12.06).
CCU's Anett Nemeth leads the league in kills per set (4.71), and ranks second in hitting percentage (.350). Nemeth is also leading the Sun Belt in kills per set (5.27) in conference matches. Brigitta Petrenko leads the Sun Belt in service aces per set (0.58), and ranks second in assists per set (10.55).
USA owns a 6-5 all-time lead over App State in a series that began in 2014. The Jaguars have won two of the last three matches in Boone dating back to 2017 after falling in straight sets last year at App.
CCU holds a 7-1 lead over South Alabama in a series that dates back to 2000. The Chanticleers have won seven straight in the series after a five-set win in Mobile earlier this season. USA's lone win against CCU came in 2000 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
