JAGS TO CLOSE NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE AT CRIMSON-WHITE TOURNAMENT

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will compete in the Crimson-White Tournament at Foster Auditorium in Tuscaloosa, Ala., this weekend.

USA (5-5) will open the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. against No. 25 Alabama, with the match scheduled to be broadcast live on SEC Network+. The Jags will face Southern Miss Friday evening at 5 p.m., and will close the weekend with an 11 a.m. match on Saturday against No. 15 Purdue. Live stats will be available for each match through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.

South Alabama carries a four-match winning streak into Friday's match with the Crimson Tide after sweeping the Jaguar Invitational last weekend in Mobile and defeating Alabama State in straight sets Tuesday at Jag Gym. The Jaguars rank second in the Sun Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.251) after posting a .537 team hitting percentage against ASU, which ranks second on the program's single-match records list. Hannah Harris set a Jaguar single-match record in hitting percentage (.929), and recorded a game-high 13 kills. 

Kelley Hartman ranks second in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.402), tied for third in service aces per set (0.42) and seventh in kills per set (3.18). Parker Harrell ranks eighth in the league in assists per set (6.89), Ashlyn Roberts ranks ninth in digs per set (3.42) and Morgan Stalcup ranks tied for ninth in blocks per set (1.00).

Alabama (10-0) carries a 10-match winning streak into Friday's contest with the Jags. The Crimson Tide defeated Marshall, Georgia Tech and Northern Illinois last weekend in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash in Tuscaloosa, followed by a midweek win over Samford. Alabama ranks ninth in the nation in total team blocks (102), 18th in blocks per set (2.76) and 19th in assists per set (13.46). The Crimson Tide holds a 24-4 all-time series lead over the Jaguars and has won the last nine meetings after defeating USA in four sets last season in Mobile.

Southern Miss (6-4) enters the weekend having lost two straight matches after dropping its final two contests against Florida State and VCU last weekend in Tallahassee, Fla. The Golden Eagles open the tournament with Purdue at noon on Friday before squaring off with South Alabama Friday evening. USM's Catherine Repsher ranks 18th nationally in hitting percentage (.421), Sarah Bell ranks 19th in total assists (410) and Kylie Grandy ranks 23rd in total kills (157). USA holds a 28-20 all-time series lead over Southern Miss, and has won the last two meetings in the series dating back to 2016.

Purdue (8-0) carries an eight-match winning streak into the tournament after sweeping the Stacey Clark Classic last weekend in West Lafayette, Ind., with wins over Xavier, Lipscomb and Louisville. The Boilermakers rank 22nd nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.147), 30th in service aces per set (1.79) and 35th in hitting percentage (.264). South Alabama's contest with Purdue on Saturday will mark the first-ever meeting between the schools.
