CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of South Alabama women's tennis team picked up its ninth straight victory by blanking the College of Charleston 7-0 Tuesday at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
 
DOUBLES
-To start off doubles, junior Alexandria Stiteler (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Yu Fujioka (Funabashi, Japan) bested Rachel McNeely and Helena Nyikos 6-2 at court No. 2.
-On court 3, freshman Nikola Kohoutova (Kralupy Nad Vltavou) and junior Alina Zolotareva (Barnaul Russia) secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win over Laura Arciniegas and Turner Yates.
 
SINGLES
-Stiteler, ranked No. 99 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, dropped Nyikos 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, and Fujioka put USA up 3-0 by defeating McNeely 6-1, 7-5 on court 3.
-Kohoutova clinched the win for the Jaguars when she topped Catalina Medici 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
-In other singles action, freshman Maxine Palmen (Sittard, Netherlands) rallied to defeat Anastasia Palaska 3-6, 6-3, (10-7) on court 4, and Zolotareva came back to win 3-6, 6-4, (10-8) against Christi Woodson at No. 2.
-Junior Patricia Martins (Lisbon, Portugal) won 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), (10-5) over Yates on court 5.
 
NOTES
-With the win, the Jags improve to 14-1 on the season, while the Cougars dropped to 11-9.
-Martins and Fujioka are undefeated in singles this season at 10-0 and 14-0, respectively.
-In doubles, Stitler and Martins improved to 9-2 overall, and Kohoutova is 9-1 overall this spring.
-Stiteler is 11-1 in singles this season, and Kohoutova improved to 6-1.
-Up next for South Alabama is a home match against Alabama-Birmingham Saturday at 11 a.m.
-USA is 28-0 against UAB in series history, and last season, the Jaguars won 6-1 over the Blazers.
