MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 victory against Mercer Saturday at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
 
DOUBLES
-Freshman Yu Fujioka (Funabashi, Japan) and junior Alina Zolotareva (Barnaul, Russia) fell 6-1 to Katie Sidor and Anna Sovic at court 2.
-Junior Alexandria Stiteler (Bradenton, Fla.) and freshman Nikola Kohoutova (Kralupy Nad Vltavou, Czech Republic) bounced back with a 6-1 win over Marie Mottet and Christine Cesarini at No. 3.
-Junior Patricia Martins (Lisbon, Portugal) and freshman Maxine Palmen (Sittard, Netherlands) clinched the doubles point for USA by defeating Celine Schepers and Grace Korta 6-3 on court 1.
 
SINGLES
-Sophomore Leslie Soto (Santiago, Chile) picked up a singles point when Sovic retired at No. 6.
-Fujioka put the Jags up 3-0 by dropping Kora 6-2, 6-0 on court 4.
-Stiteler secured the win for the Jaguars with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Sidor at No. 1.
-Zolotareva fell to Mottet 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3, and Schepers defeated Palmen 6-4, 4-6 (11-9) at No. 2.
-On court 5, Martins won 7-6, 6-7 (10-8) against Maeva Roquebert.
 
 
NOTES
-The win gives the Jaguars a 4-0 record, which is the best start since 2015 when USA started the season with 18 straight wins and went on to win the Sun Belt Championship.
-Fujioka improved to 3-0 in singles, and Soto and Martins boast 2-0 records.
-Stiteler picked up her first singles and doubles victories of the spring Saturday.
-Martins and Palmen remain undefeated in doubles at 4-0 on the year.
-The Jags return home Sunday to face New Orleans at 11 a.m.
