JAG VOLLEYBALL TO HOST TROY SATURDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will host Troy at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in a Sun Belt Conference East Division match at Jag Gym.

The match will be broadcast live and available for free through JagNationTV.com, while live stats will also be provided through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com. Saturday's match will feature a #BeatTroy t-shirt giveaway and will also serve as Greek Night.

USA (12-14, 6-7 Sun Belt) defeated Troy (10-16, 4-9 Sun Belt) in straight sets Wednesday in Troy, Ala., which snapped a two-match Jaguar losing skid. The loss extended Troy's losing streak to five matches. The Trojans' last win came on Oct. 13, when they defeated Georgia State in four sets in Atlanta.

The Jags recorded 11 total team blocks and a .316 team hitting percentage in Wednesday's victory at Troy. Hannah Harris led the Jaguar attack with 15 kills, while Meaghan Jones tied her career high with 14 kills and posted a .481 hitting percentage.

South Alabama enters the weekend in third place in the Sun Belt East Division standings, while Troy sits in fourth place in the East Division. The Jaguars rank third in the league in hitting percentage (.226), and fourth in service aces per set (1.32). Morgan Stalcup ranks fifth in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.347), while Kelley Hartman ranks fifth in service aces per set (0.31) and eighth in hitting percentage (.307). Ashlyn Roberts ranks tied for seventh in the league in service aces per set (0.30), while Rachael DeMarcus ranks ninth in the league in assists per set (6.41) and Parker Harrell ranks 10th (5.63). 

In conference matches, USA ranks third in hitting percentage (.222), and fifth in service aces per set (1.24). Stalcup ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.424) in Sun Belt contests, and Roberts ranks fifth in service aces per set (0.35). DeMarcus ranks eighth in assists per set (7.67) in conference matches.

Troy ranks second in the league in service aces per set (1.45), and is led by Cheyenne Hayes who ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.68) and service aces per set (0.33). Hayes led the Trojans in kills (16) in Wednesday's loss to the Jaguars.

South Alabama holds a 44-28 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began in 1974. The Jaguars have won three of the last four meetings in the series dating back to last season following Wednesday's win.
