JAGS FALL IN FOUR SETS AT LOUISIANA

LAFAYETTE, La. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team fell to Louisiana in four sets (20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 16-25) Saturday in Sun Belt Conference action at Earl K. Long Gym.

USA (8-11, 2-4 Sun Belt) will return to action Fri., Oct. 12, when it faces Georgia State in a Sun Belt Conference match at 5:30 p.m. (CT) in Atlanta.
 
GAME FACTS

- USA held an 8-7 lead following a kill by Hannah Harris in the opening set before Louisiana (10-10, 2-4 Sun Belt) went on a 4-0 scoring run, aided by a pair of Jaguar errors, to turn a one-point deficit into an 11-8 lead. A Ragin' Cajun attack error cut the Jaguar deficit to two points at 11-9, but Louisiana rallied for three straight points to build a 14-9 advantage. A kill by Iva Durdanovic cut the Ragin' Cajun lead to 15-12, but Louisiana went on a 3-0 scoring run, aided by a pair of Jaguar attack errors, to take an 18-12 lead. A 3-0 South Alabama run late in the set, highlighted by kills from Morgan Stalcup and Kelley Hartman, to cut the Louisiana lead to 23-20. The Ragin' Cajuns earned set point at 24-20 on a kill by Dree'Ana Abram, and clinched the set 25-20 on a kill from Desiree Johnson to take a 1-0 lead in the match. 
- The Jags scored the first point in set two on a kill by Parker Harrell, but Louisiana then scored six of the next seven points for a 6-2 advantage. South Alabama went on a 4-0 run later in the set that featured kills by Stalcup and Harris, and a block-assist by Lauren Hartman and Stalcup to cut the Ragin' Cajun lead to 16-15. A kill by Meaghan Jones and service ace from Ashlyn Roberts tied the score at 18-18. Louisiana took a one-point lead on a kill by Hanna Rovira before a kill by Kelley Hartman and consecutive Ragin' Cajun errors gave the Jaguars a 21-19 advantage. USA earned set point at 24-20 on a block by Kelley Hartman, and clinched the set 25-21 on a kill by Harris to tie the match at one set apiece.
- With the score tied at 18 late in set three, the Ragin' Cajuns went on to score five of the next six points to build a 23-19 lead. Louisiana earned set point at 24-20 on a kill by Hali Wisnoskie, and clinched the set 25-21 on a kill from Kelsey Bennett to take a 2-1 lead in the match. 
- Louisiana went on a 4-0 run midway through set four to take a 11-8 lead. The Cajuns used a 3-0 run later in the set to build a 16-11 advantage. Louisiana then went on a 5-0 run for a 21-12 lead before the Jags answered with a 3-0 run, highlighted by a kill from Jones and block-assist by Harris and Kelley Hartman, to cut the Ragin' Cajun lead to 21-15. Louisiana earned match point at 24-15 on a service ace by Hannah Rovira, and clinched the match 25-16 on a Jaguar attack error. 

NOTES
- Harris finished with a team-high 11 kills, along with eight digs and three total blocks.
- Stalcup added 10 kills, a .467 hitting percentage, one dig and two total blocks, while Jones finished with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
- Rachael DeMarcus recorded a career-high 27 assists along with seven digs, while Harrell added 18 assists, eight digs and two kills.
- Ashlyn Roberts finished with a game-high 13 digs, three assists and one service ace.
- Wisnoskie and Abram recorded 12 kills each to lead the Ragin' Cajun attack.
- The loss snapped a two-match Jaguar win streak.
