MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will travel to Louisiana for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend.
USA (7-10, 1-3 Sun Belt) will face ULM at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe, La. The Jags will then travel to Lafayette, La., for a contest with Louisiana (9-9, 1-3 Sun Belt) on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Earl K. Long Gym. Both matches will be streamed live and available through the Jaguar volleyball schedule page at USAJaguars.com. South Alabama split a pair of conference matches last weekend in Mobile, falling to Georgia Southern in five sets last Friday before defeating Georgia State in straight sets on Saturday. The Jags rank third in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.235) and service aces per set (1.33) entering the weekend.
Kelley Hartman ranks tied for fourth in the Sun Belt in service aces per sets (0.40), sixth in hitting percentage (.330) and 10th in kills per set (2.82). Ashlyn Roberts ranks ninth in the league in digs per set (3.49), and Parker Harrell ranks ninth in assists per set (5.88).
ULM (7-10, 0-4 Sun Belt) enters the week on a two-match losing skid after falling in straight sets at both Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina last weekend. The Warhawks, who sit in last place in the Sun Belt Conference West Division, are 2-2 in home matches this season. USA carries an 11-7 all-time series lead over ULM into Friday's match. The Jaguars have won four of the last five meetings in the series dating back to 2014.
The Warhawks rank second in the Sun Belt in opponent hitting percentage (.181), but rank last in the league in assists per set (9.58) and kills per set (10.29). ULM's Taylor Wood ranks second in the conference in blocks per set (1.41)
Louisiana (9-9, 1-3 Sun Belt) enters the weekend on a three-match losing streak after falling at Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State last weekend. The Ragin' Cajuns are 4-2 in home matches this season, and are 1-1 at home in league contests after splitting a pair of matches on the first weekend of conference play. The Ragin' Cajuns hold a 33-17 all-time series lead over South Alabama after the Jags won last year's meeting in Mobile.
Louisiana ranks fourth in the league in digs per set (15.42), but is 11th in opponent hitting percentage (.216) and last in the conference in service aces per set (0.88). The Ragin' Cajuns' Sydney Davis ranks second in the Sun Belt in digs per set (4.45), while Nia Antoine ranks seventh in hitting percentage (.312) and Avery Breaux ranks 10th in assists per set (5.33).
