JAG VOLLEYBALL TO CLOSE ROAD SCHEDULE AT TROY



MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will square off with Troy in a Sun Belt Conference East Division match Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.

The match will be broadcast live and available through ESPN+, while live stats will also be provided through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.

USA (11-14, 5-7 Sun Belt) dropped a pair of road matches last weekend, falling at Appalachian State in straight sets on Friday and a four-set loss at Coastal Carolina on Sunday. Wednesday's match marks the final road match of the regular season for the Jaguars.

South Alabama enters the week in third place in the Sun Belt East Division standings, while Troy (10-15, 4-8 Sun Belt) sits in fourth place. The Jags rank third in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.224), and are fourth in service aces per set (1.34). In Sun Belt matches, South Alabama also ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.216), but are eighth in service aces per set (1.28).

Morgan Stalcup ranks fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.347), while Kelley Hartman ranks fifth in service aces per set (0.32) and eighth in hitting percentage (.309). Ashlyn Roberts ranks eighth in service aces per set (0.30), while Rachael DeMarcus (6.20) and Parker Harrell (5.70) rank ninth and 10th, respectively, in assists per set. In Sun Belt contests, Stalcup ranks third in hitting percentage (.424), while Roberts ranks tied for third in service aces per set (0.36). DeMarcus ranks eighth in assists per set (7.39) in league matches.

Troy ranks second in the conference in service aces per set (1.49), but is 11th in the league in blocks per set (1.81). In Sun Belt matches, the Trojans rank third in digs per set (16.04), but rank last in hitting percentage (.140). Cheyenne Hayes ranks tied for third in service aces per set (0.34), and fourth in kills per set (3.63). Amara Anderson ranks third in the league in assists per set (10.51). In conference matches, Hayes ranks fifth in kills per set (3.49), while Anderson ranks fourth in assists per set (10.49).  

The Trojans enter Wednesday's match with a four-match losing streak after falling at Coastal Carolina in straight sets and losing at Appalachian State in four sets last weekend. Troy has been swept in three of its last four matches dating back to the UT Arlington match on Oct. 19 in Troy. 

South Alabama holds a 43-28 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began in 1974. The Jaguars have won two of the last three meetings in the series, earning two wins over the Trojans in the regular season last year before falling to Troy in the opening round of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
