MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's tennis team won 4-0 against Grambling State Saturday, improving to 3-0 on the season.
 
The match was cut short due to inclement weather.
 
DOUBLES
-At court No. 1, freshman Yu Fujioka (Funabashi, Japan) and junior Alina Zolotareva (Barnaul, Russia) dispatched Danna Galeano and Yuliia Popova 6-1.
-Junior Patricia Martins (Lisbon, Portugal) and freshman Maxine Palmen (Sittard, Netherlands) clinched the doubles point by defeating Keren Happuch Muswere and Tanyaradzwa Magunje 6-0 at No. 2.
-Grambling State had to forfeit the third doubles match because of a lack of eligible players.
 
SINGLES
-The Jaguars clinched the match because Grambling State forfeited three singles points.
-Three unfinished matches were in progress when it started raining.
-Junior Alexandria Stiteler (Bradenton, Fla.) was up 6-2, 3-0 on Popova at No. 1.
-Zolotareva had a 6-1, 2-0 lead against Galeano on court No. 3.
-Fujioka led 6-1, 3-0 against Magunje at No. 4.
-Palmen had a 1-0 lead on Muswere at court No. 2 before she retired due to an injury.
 
NOTES
-Originally, the Jags and the Tigers were scheduled to play two matches Saturday, but a single match was played instead due to poor weather.
-For their next match, the Jaguars travel to Macon, Ga. to face Mercer Saturday, Feb. 3.
-USA has a chance to start 4-0 for the first time since 2015, when the team won the Sun Belt Championship.
