THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Terry Fowler
Opening statement: "I thought they got off to a great start, they are really a great three-point shooting team and they came out and were able to do that.  One of the big keys early in the game was that we wanted to make their post players play one-on-one, and they did a great job of getting in there and scoring; that was difficult.  But we made a comeback, though I always say that comebacks are easy and coming back to win is difficult, and that's exactly what happened.  When we got the lead, if we could've extended it to five or six points — which we never did — we might have been able to hold them at bay, but they went on a run there where they made three straight threes and that was the breaking point in the game."

On UAB's perimeter shooting: "They were lights out, and they can put it on the floor and get into the lane and make them there as well.  They continued to play and move without the basketball, which makes it difficult to guard.  I thought we answered and just fell short, we weren't able to sustain it."

On positive aspects of the game: "The effort was great and we didn't turn it over, we took care of the basketball.  We need to finish some shots around the basket that we didn't. I thought we shot a decent percentage from three as well.  The locker room is really sad right now, but we've done a lot of good things and have to build on that as we move forward into [Sun Belt] conference play on Dec. 29."
