OPENING TIP
- South Alabama has two scorers averaging double-digit points this season, Chyna Ellis and Savannah Jones.
- Ellis had a career-high 14 rebounds to go with 12 points for her 17th career double-double against Georgia Southwestern.
- After recording seven boards at NC State, Ellis s 12 rebounds away from cracking the top-10 in the statistic in program history.
- Savannah Jones is averaging 15 points per game after USA's first two games. Jones is coming off a season-ending knee injury from the 2016-17 season.
- Genesis Perrymond tied a career-high in steals against NC State with four. It was the fifth time in her career she has had four steals in a game.
- Ellis has six blocks this season and needs 43 more rejections to be the all-time leader in Sun-Belt Conference history.
- Antoinette Lewis has five rebounds in each of her first two career games.
- Perrymond leads the Jaguars in assists with 14.
- North Carolina dropped its 2017-18 opener at home to Hampton, 70-66, but has rebounded during their last two matchups taking games against Colorado and Radford, 87-80 in overtime and 79-46 respectively.
- Coming into the contest, the Tar Heels have three student-athletes averaging double-digits in points, Paris Kea (23.3), Jamie Cherry (15.3) and Janelle Bailey (13.7).
- Kea also leads UNC in assists (18) and steals (11).
- Bailey is coming off a double-double against Radford on Nov. 16 when she put up 19 points and brought down 10 defensive boards, both game-highs.
- The Tar Heels shot 49.2 percent from the field and 10.5 percent from the charity stripe.
- As of Nov. 17, Kea is 28th in the nation in points per game.

On what they're trying to improve upon for the Tar Heels after the loss to NC State: "We have to rebound the ball. They are both similar teams. They are going to rebound it and play with a different pace than NC State. Their Individual players are special with the basketball and we have to focus on those players and play quality team defense."
