SBC-LEADING JAGS HOST PAIR OF LEAGUE MATCHES THIS WEEKEND



MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will host a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend at Jag Gym.

USA (13-5, 8-0 SBC) enters the weekend with the best record in conference play as the lone unbeaten team in the league. The Jaguars carry an eight-game winning streak into the weekend, and have dropped just three sets during that stretch which dates back to the conference opener at Texas State on Sept. 22. USA also carries a five-game home winning streak into Friday's match.

South Alabama will host Little Rock (7-14, 3-6 SBC) Fri., Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in Jag Gym. USA will then host Arkansas State (13-9, 6-3 SBC) on Sun., Oct. 22, at 12:30 p.m. in Jag Gym. Both matches will be streamed live and available for free at JagNationTV.com, while live stats will also be provided for each match and available through the multimedia section of USAJaguars.com.

USA swept Georgia Southern and Georgia State in straight sets in a pair of road matches last weekend. The Jaguars lead the SBC in blocks per set (2.80), which ranks 19th nationally. South Alabama also leads the league in opponent hitting percentage (.160), which ranks 22nd nationally. In SBC matches, the Jags lead the conference in hitting percentage (.259) and blocks per set (3.26), rank tied for first in service aces per set (1.30), and second in opponent hitting percentage (.146).

Kelley Hartman leads the Sun Belt in blocks per set (1.42), which ranks 24th nationally entering the weekend. Hartman also ranks fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.324). In SBC contests, Hartman leads the conference in hitting percentage (.411), ranks third in blocks per set (1.33), fourth in service aces per set (0.37) and eighth in kills per set (3.07). Freshman Morgan Stalcup leads the SBC in blocks per set (1.62), and ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.400) in conference matches.

South Alabama sits atop the SBC East Division by a half-game entering the weekend, with Coastal Carolina sitting in second place at 7-1 in league play. ASU enters the weekend in third place in the SBC West Division, which is led by Louisiana-Lafayette at 7-1, while Little Rock is fourth.

Little Rock ranks second in the conference in blocks per set (2.34), while ASU ranks second in the league in kills per set (13.41) and assists per set (12.45), and third in hitting percentage (.213) and opponent hitting percentage (.189).

The Trojans' Veronica Marin ranks second in the SBC in hitting percentage (.350), while ASU's Ellie Watkins leads the conference in assists per set (11.00). ASU freshman Tatum Ticknor leads the league in digs per set (5.20), while Carlisa May ranks second in kills per set (3.85).
