USA will then face BCU at 9 a.m. (CT) Saturday, followed by a 6 p.m. (CT) matchup against UGA. Saturday's match against Georgia will serve as the Jaguars' final non-conference contest of the season.
South Alabama ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in hitting percentage (.237), third in service aces per set (1.49) and fifth in kills per set (12.10). Sarah Richardson ranks fourth in the league in hitting percentage (.368), and is 10th in blocks per set (1.00). Iva Durdanovic ranks tied for second in the conference in service aces per set (0.42), while Abby Baker ranks sixth in the SBC in digs per set (4.10).
South Alabama is 7-3 after dropping two of three matches last weekend in Fort Myers, Fla., at the Homewood Suites Classic. The Jaguars enter the weekend with the second-best record in the Sun Belt Conference, and are 3-0 in neutral-site matches this season.
USA is 11-9 all-time against MSU after winning last year's match in Mobile in straight sets, which snapped an eight-game Jaguar losing streak in the series. The Jags are 1-0 all-time against BCU after winning the lone meeting in the series 3-1 in 2002. Georgia holds a 5-2 all-time lead over USA, and carries a five-game winning streak against the Jags into Saturday's contest. Georgia won the last meeting, which came in Athens in 2009, in straight sets.
