No. 43 WOMEN’S TENNIS WRAPS UP REGULAR SEASON ON THE ROAD

MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 43 University of South Alabama women's tennis team is set to close their regular season this weekend with two road matches.

The Jaguars are coming off a 5-2 victory over Southern Miss Saturday and look to extend their eight-match win streak. USA will start their weekend with a match against Appalachian State Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and on Sunday at 2 p.m., South Alabama will face off against No. 46 Georgia State. Both matches will be held at the GSU – Clarkson campus.

"This is a big conference weekend with some important matches," said USA head coach Jaco Keyser. "I thought we played some very good tennis last week. We played from in front against Georgia Southern, had to fight our way back against Troy and was in a competitive match against Southern Miss. I think we've seen all of the match situations and that's making us a better team."

Last season, the Jaguars swept the Mountaineers 7-0 on the road. This season, Appalachian State has a 6-11 record.

"The message has been the same for us all year: every match we try not to get too up for it, but at the same time, the mindset is, we don't worry about our opponents, good or bad," Keyser said. "We just try to focus on our side of the net and execute what we're trying to do."

Georgia State enters this weekend with a 10-5 record, including a victory over No. 29 South Carolina. The Panthers are led by senior Linn Timmermann, who has gone 9-5 in singles at the No. 1 position. Last spring, the Jaguars won 6-1 over GSU at home.

"There are a lot of important matches being played in the conference this weekend," Keyser said. "The challenge for us is going to be to keep everything the same – have a good focus, handle the match situations in the right manner, and execute our game plans."
