MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will hit the road for a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches this weekend.
USA (14-11, 5-7 SBC) will face Louisiana-Monroe Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. The Jaguars will then travel to Lafayette, La., for a 12:30 p.m. match with Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday. Both matches will be streamed live and live stats will be provided as well. South Alabama enters the weekend tied with Georgia State for second place in the SBC East Division standings. ULM will open the weekend in last place in the SBC West Division, while ULL sits just in front of the Warhawks in fifth place. ULM carries a seven-game losing streak into its match with USA. ULL enters the weekend with a two-game losing skid.
The Jaguars rank third in the SBC in hitting percentage (.232), and are fourth in the league in assists per set (11.69) and kills per set (12.45). Abby Baker ranks third in the conference in digs per set (4.37), while Sarah Richardson ranks fifth in the league in blocks per set (1.08). Mechell Daniel enters the weekend ranked 10th in the SBC in kills per set (2.73). In SBC contests, Richardson ranks fourth in the league in blocks per set (1.21) and Daniel ranks sixth in kills per set (2.98).
ULM (8-21, 2-9 SBC) ranks last in the SBC in assists per set (9.74) and kills per set (10.60), and is 11th in the conference in hitting percentage (.147). ULL (8-18, 4-7 SBC) ranks third in the league in digs per set (14.91), fourth in service aces per set (1.38) and sixth in kills per set (11.99).
In SBC contests, ULM ranks last in the SBC in kills per set (10.23), and 11th in hitting percentage (.121), assists per set (9.46) and kills per set (10.23). ULL ranks last in the league in blocks per set (1.30), but is third in digs per set (16.32).
ULL's Stacey Reilly ranks third in kills per set (3.07) in SBC matches, Chloe Cordell ranks tied for first in service aces per set (0.41) and Jessica Bartczyszyn is third in assists per set (9.34). ULM's Kacey LeBlanc ranks fifth in the league in digs per set (4.81) in SBC contests.
USA went 1-2 last week with a pair of losses to Troy and Coastal Carolina and a win over Appalachian State. Both ULM and ULL dropped a pair of matches last weekend to Texas State and Texas-Arlington.
South Alabama holds an 11-6 all-time series lead over ULM, and carries a four-game series winning streak into Friday's match. ULL leads the all-time series with the Jaguars 32-16. South Alabama has won six of its last seven meetings against ULL.
