MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will host Troy in a Sun Belt Conference match at 4 p.m. Sat., Oct. 8, at Jag Gym.
The contest will be streamed live and available for free through JagNationTV.com, while live stats will be provided at USAJaguars.com.
USA (9-8, 0-4 SBC) enters the contest with a five-game losing skid after falling at Georgia Southern and Georgia State last weekend. South Alabama ranks third in the SBC in hitting percentage (.231), assists per set (11.64) and kills per set (12.39) entering the weekend.
Defensive specialist Abby Baker ranks third in the league in digs per set (4.37), while senior middle blocker Sarah Richardson is fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (.342). Freshman outside hitter Iva Durdanovic ranks seventh in the SBC in kills per set (2.88), and is tied for ninth in the league in service aces per set (0.28).
Troy (6-13, 0-4 SBC), which will host Tennessee Wednesday, enters the week with a nine-game losing streak after a pair of losses at Georgia State and Georgia Southern last weekend. The Trojans are 1-5 in road contests this season, including four consecutive road losses entering the weekend, with their lone win on the road coming in a four-set win at Alabama State on Sept. 9.
Troy ranks last in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.149), and is 11th in the league in assists per set (10.28). In conference contests, Troy ranks last in the SBC in hitting percentage (.027), assists per set (8.07) and kills per set (9.00).
South Alabama holds a 40-26 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began in 1974. The schools split a pair of matches last season, with the home team earning the victory in each of those contests.
