JAG VOLLEYBALL TO CLOSE HOME SCHEDULE WITH PAIR OF SBC MATCHES



MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will close out its home schedule this weekend with a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches at Jag Gym.

USA (13-10, 4-6 SBC) will host SBC East Division leader Coastal Carolina (17-4, 8-1 SBC) at 6:30 p.m. Friday, and will host Appalachian State (3-19, 1-8 SBC) at 12:30 p.m. on Senior Day at Jag Gym. Both matches will be streamed live and available for free through JagNationTV.com. Live stats for each match will be available at USAJaguars.com.

South Alabama ranks third in the SBC in hitting percentage (.235), and is fourth in the league in kills per set (12.56) and assists per set (11.78). The Jaguars rank fourth in the Sun Belt in hitting percentage (.212) in conference matches.

Abby Baker ranks third in the SBC in digs per set (4.37), and Sarah Richardson ranks eighth in the league in blocks per set (1.04). Iva Durdanovic ranks 10th in the conference in kills per set (2.71). In SBC contests, Mechell Daniel ranks eighth in kills per set (2.89) and 10th in hitting percentage (.286), while Richardson ranks fifth in blocks per set (1.16).

CCU leads the conference in hitting percentage (.263) and opponent hitting percentage (.157), and ranks second in the league in assists per set (12.46), kills per set (13.34) and service aces per set (1.62). In SBC matches, CCU leads the conference in hitting percentage (.305) and service aces per set (1.77).

App State will take on Troy in Troy, Ala., Friday before facing the Jaguars on Sunday in Mobile. The Mountaineers rank last in the SBC in blocks per set (1.44) and service aces per set (0.85), and are ninth in the league in hitting percentage (.179) and kills per set (11.59).

USA holds a 1-0 all-time lead over Coastal Carolina after winning the lone contest between the schools in Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 2000. Appalachian State holds a 3-1 all-time series lead over the Jaguars following a pair of wins over USA last season.

South Alabama will honor four seniors – Deanna Canfield, Mechell Daniel, Nikki Gittens and Sarah Richardson – as part of its Senior Day festivities prior to Sunday's match against App State.
