MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama volleyball team will host a pair of Sun Belt Conference matches at Jag Gym this weekend.
USA (10-8, 1-4 SBC) will take on Georgia State (7-10, 3-3 SBC) at 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, and will host Georgia Southern (10-9, 3-1 SBC) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Both matches will be streamed live and available for free at JagNationTV.com, while live stats for each match will be provided at USAJaguars.com.
Georgia State earned a 3-1 decision over USA two weeks ago in Atlanta, while the Eagles defeated the Jaguars in five sets in Statesboro, Ga. The Eagles enter the weekend in second place in the SBC East Division standings, while the Panthers are third.
USA ranks third in the league in hitting percentage (.234), and is fourth in assists per set (11.62) and kills per set (12.46). Abby Baker ranks third in the conference in digs per set (4.37), while Sarah Richardson ranks sixth in hitting percentage (.320). Iva Durdanovic ranks tied for sixth in service aces per set (0.31), and seventh in kills per set (2.87).
Georgia Southern ranks second in the league in kills per set (13.12) and assists per set (12.56) in conference contests. Georgia State leads the league with 1.79 service aces per set in SBC matches.
USA holds a 7-4 all-time lead over Georgia State, while Georgia Southern leads the all-time series over the Jaguars 6-1. The Panthers are 0-5 in road matches this season, while the Eagles are 1-4 on the road.
South Alabama snapped a five-game losing skid with a straight-sets win over Troy last weekend at Jag Gym. The Jags are 5-2 in home matches this season.
