MARIETTA, Ga.
– The University of South Alabama women's tennis team swept singles and doubles en route to a 7-0 victory over Kennesaw State Saturday morning at the Fair Oaks Tennis Center.

The 74th-ranked Jaguars stay unbeaten at 6-0 while the Owls fall to 0-6.

"We had a very professional performance today," USA head coach Jaco Keyser said. "I definitely liked the way we engaged from the first point and played on our own terms."

After the Jags' doubles pairs on courts 2 and 3 didn't lose a game in securing a 1-0 lead, junior Paula Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) whitewashed Ashleigh De Wet 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.

Sophomore Laura Valkova (Piestany, Slovakia) defeated Jana Hueckinghaus 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, and Laura Matuskova clinched the win at No. 5 over Cristina Martin, 6-1, 6-0.

In other singles action, sophomore Monica Mitta (Fairhope, Ala.) won 6-3, 6-1 against Virginie Stein on the No. 1 court, and senior Mary Angela Martin (Mobile, Ala.) dropped just two games total in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Alexandra Mercado at No. 4.

Senior Emily Newton (Dothan, Ala.) needed three sets to get past Isabela Castro at No. 3, 6-4, 2-6, (10-8).

Martin and junior Michaela Meszarosova (Bratislava, Slovakia), and Sanchez and Mitta teamed up for a pair of 8-0 victories on courts 2 and 3, respectively.

"I'm looking forward to get back to Mobile and get some practice in as we keep on trying to improve," Keyser said.

The Jaguars host Southern Miss Friday at 1 p.m.
