NEW ORLEANS – No. 40 Tulane used four straight-set victories in singles to propel the Green Wave past the University of South Alabama women’s tennis team 6-1 Wednesday at City Park Pepsi Center.
The Green Wave win for the sixth straight time and move to 16-6 on the year while the Jaguars fall to 14-9.
“I have to give credit to Tulane,” USA head coach
Jaco Keyser said. “They played a good match from start to finish. It was good experience for a couple of the younger girls that were playing a little higher in the lineup and competing good in those spots.”
The Green Wave clinched the win after earning the doubles point with victories of 8-2 and 8-3, and dropping six games in three singles matches.
Emma Levy doubled the lead after a 2-1 (ret.) win at No. 3 and Caroline Magnusson pushed the advantage to 3-0 at No. 6 after a 6-0, 6-1 triumph .

Klara Vyskcilova gave Tulane the victory at No. 1, topping freshman
Michaela Meszarosova (Bratislava, Slovakia) 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman
Paula Sanchez (Bogota, Colombia) got the Jags on the board with a 7-6 (ret.) win at No. 5, but the Green Wave put up the last two points of the match on the No. 4 and No. 2 courts.
Tulane picked up the doubles point on an 8-2 victory by Magnusson and
Caroline Thornton at No. 2 and an 8-3 win at No. 3 by Levy and
Jenny Hois.
The Jaguars close out the regular season Saturday with a home match against UAB.
