MOBILE, Ala. – May 3, 2013, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the University of South Alabama.  Throughout the academic year, the USA Department of Athletics will recognize “50 Great Moments In Jaguar Athletics” to honor past teams, coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments.

Nov. 22, 1999
David Kimani wins USA’s first-ever national title, posting a time of 30:06.60 in the 10,000-meter race at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Bloomington, Ind.  The freshman would go on to claim two more national championships during the indoor season in the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs, also earning All-America honors in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the spring.  Kimani scored 32.5 points to be named the Outstanding Meet Performer at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, picking up the same honor at the league’s outdoor championships in May as well.
