MOBILE, Ala. – May 3, 2013, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the University of South Alabama.  Throughout the academic year, the USA Department of Athletics will recognize “50 Great Moments In Jaguar Athletics” to honor past teams, coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments.

March, 2008
Brandon Davis posted 27 points and nine rebounds, with Daon Merritt and Demetric Bennett collecting 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Jaguars to an 81-77 win over New Orleans on March 9 in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.  The victory — USA’s 17th in a row at the Mitchell Center, and 26th overall — helped the Jags set a new school record for wins in a season.  On March 16, it was announced that the Jags earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history; they would face Butler in Birmingham five days later, getting 14 points from Merritt in his final collegiate game as USA would finish the year 26-7 after falling to the Bulldogs.
