MOBILE, Ala. – May 3, 2013, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the University of South Alabama. Throughout the academic year, the USA Department of Athletics will recognize “50 Great Moments In Jaguar Athletics” to honor past teams, coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments.

The USA women’s soccer team plays North Carolina-Greensboro in an NCAA Play-In Game, marking the school’s first national postseason appearance in the program’s fourth year of existence. The Lady Jaguars would end the season with an 18-3-1 record under the direction of head coach Mark Francis, setting an NCAA record for biggest single-year improvement after finishing 2-17 in 1996. USA put together a perfect 5-0 mark in Big South Conference play as well as winning the league tournament that fall, while during non-conference action the Lady Jags earned victories over Mississippi, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State at home to go along with a road win at LSU.
