MOBILE, Ala. – Following a rain-out on Wednesday, the University of South Alabama women’s tennis team will clash with Arkansas State at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts Saturday morning at 11 a.m.
The match will be the Jaguars’ first at home since a win over Louisiana at Lafayette on March 9.
USA’s postponed contest with Troy, originally scheduled for Wednesday, has been canceled and will not be made up.
South Alabama (12-4) will bring its eight-match win streak into Saturday’s tilt against the Red Wolves, who are 9-5 entering their match vs. Troy on Friday.
Three different USA players carry singles win streaks of eight or more: sophomore
Emily Newton (Dothan, Ala.) and freshmen
Mary Angela Martin (Mobile, Ala.) and
Mariya Krachok (Kiev, Ukraine).
Martin and Newton have each won 14 in a row, with all but three coming in straight sets. Krachok has set down eight opponents in a row, including the match-clincher her last time out vs. Southern Miss, a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
Admission is free to all South Alabama tennis matches.
