OFFENBERG SHOOTS EVEN PAR IN SECOND ROUND OF SBC CHAMPIONSHIP

2010 SBC Championship - Second Round results

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - University of South Alabama women's golf junior Nina Offenberg shot even-par 72 at the 2010 Sun Belt Conference Championship Tuesday to move seven spots up the leader board and into the top 10.

Offenberg (35-37) carded birdies on both the front and back nine, and will begin Wednesday's final round just four shots back of the lead.

USA freshman Fanny Eineren (39-36) moved up nine spots on the leaderboard with a 3-over-par 75 Tuesday, and enters the final round tied for 14th place, after improving two shots from her opening round. Eineren carded four birdies on the day with two each on the front and back nine.

The Lady Jaguars sit in fifth place after Tuesday's second round in which they posted a 16-over-par 304 team score.

"As a team, we're playing some good golf right now," USA head coach T.J. Jackson said. "We had basically the same team round, there was just different players contributing. We've had everybody contribute. In two rounds, everybody has thrown a round in there. I told the team we could shoot under par if everybody comes together.

"We've had some big numbers in the first two rounds. We're so close to really putting it together, but we can't get ahead of ourselves. We just have to go out there and keep plugging and we can shoot a low score. This golf course is as fair as it gets. If you're playing well, you can score on it. If you're not, you are going to shoot a high score.

USA sophomore Ana Garcia (37-39) improved six shots from Monday's opening round with a 4-over-par 76 to move up 14 spots in the individual standings after two birdies on the back nine and one on the front.

South Alabama senior Claudia Wolf (35-46) slipped to 13th place in the individual standings with a 9-over-par 81 Tuesday.

Denver carries a 19-shot lead into Wednesday's final round, and sits a 3-over-par for the tournament after a 10-over-par 298 in the second round.

Denver's Ellie Givens and Kimberly Kim, Florida International's Paula Hurtado and Middle Tennessee's Karisa Akin enter Wednesday's final round tied for first place in the individual standings.

USA will begin its final round of the 2010 SBC Championship at 7:30 a.m. with freshman Sarah-Louise Winter first off the tee. She will be followed by Garcia (7:39 a.m.), Eineren (7:48 a.m.), Wolf (7:57 a.m.) and Offenberg (8:06 a.m.).
