JAG TRACK AND FIELD ADDS BARGER TO 2011 SIGNING CLASS

MOBILE, Ala. - The University of South Alabama head track and field coach Paul Brueske announced the addition of Lacy Barger to the 2011 team roster Thursday.

"Lacy should be competitive right away in the javelin," Brueske said. "I also believe she has a good deal of upside potential to improve. She is also an excellent student with a weighted GPA of over 4.0"

The high school senior hails from Bremen, Ala., and currently competes for the Eagles at Cold Springs High School. She currently holds the state-best throw in the javelin with a 41.12m/134-11 mark, which she threw in Mobile at the Challenge of Champions track and field meet hosted by St. Paul's Episcopal School. Barger is also currently ranked 15th in the nation in high school girls' javelin and is an AHSAA all-state performer in the event.
