USA WOMEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO LOUISVILLE 6-1

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of South Alabama women’s tennis team dropped their match to Louisville 6-1 Saturday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

"There were some bright spots individually but collectively, it was a bad day,” USA head coach Jaco Keyser said. “The bottom line is that we have to start executing during match situations. The time for learning lessons is over. We need to take giant strides forward and validate practice and improvement. All in all not a great day"

At No. 1 doubles the Jaguar duo of Katie Welch and Chané Hines dropped a close match to Mandy Brown and Sarah Miller 9-8 (7-2). Freshmen Marie Boura and Jess Courtnell fell to the Cardinals’ Amelia Harris and Stefanie Villajuan 8-3 on the No. 2 court.

In singles action, South Alabama’s lone point came at the No. 4 flight when Hines defeated Kaysara Mandy 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), (10-8).

Louisville earned wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 flights by default.

The Jags will be back in action tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. taking on No. 73 Virginia Tech at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
