MOBILE, Ala. --- University of South Alabama men’s tennis player
Romain Bocaert (Lille, France) advanced to the finals of the qualifying bracket Sunday at the ITF Futures Tournament held at the Mobile Tennis Center.
Bocaert, a sophomore, defeated
Matthieu Roy of France, the 15th seed and ranked 1,086 in the world, 6-4, 6-4.
“Romain played very aggressively and that’s how you come up with big wins,” said USA head coach
Nick Brochu. “I am very proud of him. This tournament has some excellent players and he is playing at a high level.”
Monday Bocaert will face No. 1 seed
Vladimir Obradovic, who topped USA sophomore
Christian Kuehne (Morbach, Germany) 6-3, 6-1.
Jaguar junior
Lucas Viel (Boussy-Saint-Antoine, France) was eliminated 6-1, 6-1 by third-seeded
Daniel Danilovic of Montenegro.
