WOMEN'S GOLF CLOSES PLAY AT JOHN KIRK/PANTHER INTERCOLLEGIATE

STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. - University of South Alabama women's golf turned in its lowest score of the John Kirk/Panther Intercollegiate in Tuesday's final round at Eagle's Landing Country Club.

The Lady Jaguars finished with a team total of 314 in the final round, and carded a three-day total of 949 to earn a seventh-place finish.

"Overall, it was a good tournament," USA head coach T.J. Jackson said. "We held our ground today. We didn't make up any ground, but we didn't lose any ground either. The conditions were tough, but we beat some good teams and got close to some really good teams. We played in some pretty cold weather for the most part, so I give the girls a lot of credit for hanging tough in those conditions. But we have improved each tournament and everyone is contributing. We have yet to put it all together, but we're real close to playing really good, so hopefully we'll do that in these next couple of tournaments."

USA senior Claudia Wolf (78-75-79) finished tied for 15th with a three-round total of 232. Freshman Fanny Eineren (82-80-75) carded the lowest round of the day for USA with a final-round 75.

Eineren finished the tournament with seven birdies, while Wolf finished with six. Eineren finished even par in par 3 scoring.

Nina Offenberg (82-80-80) finished with a 54-hole total of 242, and Ana Garcia (77-92-80), who carded one of just three eagles in the tournament, finished with a three-round total of 249. Sarah-Louise Winter (94-81-84) finished with a three-round score of 259.

The Lady Jaguars finished ahead of Sun Belt Conference opponents Troy, Florida International and Arkansas State.

"We'll have our conference tournament next month, and we had a good showing against three of those schools," Jackson said. "We saw Arkansas-Little Rock, who is a good team, and they came out ahead this time. But it's always good to get the win over conference opponents."

USA finished with 20 birdies and 131 pars for the tournament, and was just one of two schools to card an eagle.

Georgia State won the team title by 14 strokes over UALR and Daytona State, who tied for second place with team totals of 919. GSU's Cathrine Madsen (76-70-75) won the individual title at 5-over par with a three-round total of 221.

USA will return to action Fri., April 2-Sun., April 4, at the MSU Women's Spring Intercollegiate, hosted by Morehead State, at Juliette Falls Golf Club in Ocala, Fla.
