MOBILE, Ala. - The University of South Alabama men's tennis team will take on Florida A&M University in their second home match of the season Sunday at 11 a.m. on the Bruce David Lubel Memorial tennis courts.
"We had a lot of meetings this week and just talked about the mental part of the game because that was our weak point this past Monday," USA head coach Nick Brochu said. "We are in shape, we're practicing hard, but we've really got to learn to be tougher on the court."
The Jags bring a 1-2 record into the match. They defeated Florida Gulf Coast in their season opener but have lost their last two outings, including a 5-2 defeat to Nicholls on Monday.
"This weekend we are going to try some different pairings in doubles," said Brochu. "In the last match we were not aggressive in doubles and we lost the point so this weekend we're going to try something different."
South Alabama and Florida A&M last matched up in 2008 when the Jaguars downed the Rattlers 6-1 in Tallahassee, Fla.
USA junior Lucas Viel is undefeated in singles action this year, including a win over No. 23 Clint Bowles of Florida State. He earned Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week honors Wednesday for his work on the court.
