ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of South Alabama men’s doubles team of
Lucas Viel and
Romain Bocaert won again Saturday at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Rain wreaked havoc on the schedule again, postponing more matches until Sunday.
Viel (Boussy-Saint-Antoine, France) and Bocaert (Lille, France) defeated Jack Roux and Edgar Rodriguez from USC Upstate 8-6 and advance to the Round of 16 in the Division II bracket. They will face Amogh Prabhaker and Carlos Salmon of Wake Forest.
USA’s other doubles team of sophomores
Dauw Kruger (Pretoria, South Africa) and
Hanno Bartsch (Pretoria, South Africa) lost 8-5 to K.C. Griffin and Henry of Memphis.
In singles action, Bartsch fell 7-6 (12-10), 6-3 to Martin Shishkov of Georgia State while Kruger defeated Jordan Smith of Memphis 7-6 (9-7), 6-3.
The final day of the tournament will be Sunday.
