HAMMOND, La. ? Beth Pilgrim threw her fifth shutout of the season to help lead the University of South Alabama to a 1-0 victory Wednesday night at North Oak Park.
Pilgrim (15-10) didn’t allow a hit until the bottom of the fifth and would take the eventual win after going the distance with seven strikeouts. Catherine Gunther (8-13) took the loss for Southeastern with two strikeouts in seven innings pitched.
USA (24-22-1) put up an early run in the first when Tara Donaldson singled up the middle to bring home Christin Crocker from second. Crocker went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run scored.
USA returns home for a three-game series against Western Kentucky Saturday and Sunday at Jaguar Field. Saturday’s games are slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the second game following at 3 p.m. Sunday’s game is Senior Night for Jaguar softball and the game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
