USA WOMEN?S TENNIS DOWNS SBC RIVAL MIDDLE TENNESSEE, 6-1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. ? The University of South Alabama Women’s Tennis Team dominated Sun Belt Conference rival Middle Tennessee 6-1 in Nashville.

 

The Lady Jags (7-3) started strong, sweeping the Blue Raiders (6-7) in doubles competition. The 54th-ranked South Alabama tandem of Michaela Babicova and Sylvanie Spangenberg continued their six-match win streak beating Andrea Herrera and Natalie Araya 8-2. USA duos Erica Krisan/Katie Welch and Alina Volman/Parija Maloo also downed their MTSU counterparts giving South Alabama the doubles point.

 

In singles action USA continued to dominate winning five out the six matches. Krisan, Babicova, Welch, and Maloo all won in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 positions. On the No. 5 court Spangenberg defeated Anna Djananova 8-4. The Lady Jags' only loss came at the No. 6 postion.

 

South Alabama returns to the court next Saturday, traveling to Rice for a 3 p.m. start.
