MOBILE, Ala.?The University of South Alabama women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Georgia State Tuesday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Lady Jags (5-3) started strong in doubles play, winning at the No.1 and No. 2 positions. The 54th-ranked duo of Sylvanie Spangenberg and Michaela Babicova defeated the Panthers’ Kiara Powell and Dariana Kozmina 8-4 on the No. 1 court. USA’s Erica Krisan and Katie Welch clinched the doubles point by defeating Diana Nakic and Linda Hricistova 8-5 at the No. 2 position.
South Alabama continued to dominate, winning five out of the six singles matches. Krisan, Welch and Alina Volman defeated their opponents I straight sets. The Lady Jags’ Parija Maloo and Spangenberg also secured singles wins to give South Alabama the 6-1 victory.
USA will be back in action on Thursday at 9 a.m. against Indiana State.
