MOBILE, Ala. -- The 66th-ranked University of South Alabama women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 victory Thursday afternoon over Southeastern Louisiana at Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Lady Jags (4-3) took the lead early by picking up the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches, 8-0, 8-0, and 8-1.
South Alabama continued its dominant performance in the singles portion of the match, picking up straight set wins in five of the six singles matches.
Erica Krisan and Katie Welch team for a win at No. 2 doubles, then earned singles victories as well at the second and third positions, respectively. Sylvanie Spangenberg and Alina Volman also won twice on the day. Spangenberg teamed with Michaela Babicova for a win at No. 1 doubles and also earned a victory at No. 4 singles, while Volman picked up points by winning at No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles.
Marie Boura was victorious at sixth singles also.
Southeastern Louisiana (3-2) avoided the sweep when Iva Velkovska earned a 7-5, 6-7, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles.
South Alabama continues regular season play at home on Feb. 28 against Ole Miss.
